Data collected by the app

Vokaza does not create any account and never sends personal data to our servers. Everything the app stores — the words you have started, the words you have mastered, your favourites, your daily streak, and your language, level, theme, accent, speaking-speed and reminder preferences — is saved only on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app. We, as the publisher, collect nothing and can read nothing.

No account, ever

There is no sign-up, no email address, no password and no social login. You can use every word, every level and every phrase in the app without telling us anything about yourself.

The app works offline

All 11,000 words and 240 phrases are contained in the application package itself. Nothing is downloaded at first launch or afterwards, and the app is fully usable in flight mode. The only network traffic Vokaza produces is advertising (see below).

No microphone, no camera, no contacts, no location

Vokaza requests none of these permissions. It cannot record you, and it does not read your contacts, your files or your position. Pronunciation is spoken by the text-to-speech engine that is already installed on your phone; nothing is recorded and nothing is sent anywhere.

Backups and files you export

The app can export a backup file (.vokaza) containing your learning progress, and hand it to the sharing menu of your phone. What happens next is entirely your choice: the destination — a cloud drive, a messaging app, local storage — is picked by you, and DoliMarketPlace receives no copy. Files you import are read on the device only.

Advertising

The app displays advertising provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and usage data in order to serve and measure ads. This processing is carried out by Google as an independent controller; see policies.google.com/technologies/ads and policies.google.com/privacy.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a consent form is shown before any personalised advertising is served. You can change that choice at any time from Settings → Advertising choices inside the app.

Notifications

The optional daily study reminder is generated locally on your device at the time you choose. No content is transmitted to any third party, and the reminder is off until you turn it on.

Content and licence

The translations and phonetic transcriptions shipped with Vokaza are derived from the English Wiktionary, extracted by wiktextract and published by kaikki.org. They are used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence, which also covers the vocabulary database included in the app. The same information is shown inside the app, under Settings → Credits and licences.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13.

Your rights

You can delete all of your data by uninstalling the app, by clearing the app's data in your phone settings, or by using Settings → Erase my progress inside the app. Because nothing is stored on our side, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page is updated. Material changes are also mentioned in the release notes of the version that introduces them.
